We have a Rock Snake on the Fairy Garden Trail and would love to have you add to his tail helping him grow! Painted rocks, polished rocks, inspiration rocks, even cool park rocks are perfect for your community snake.

Please do not take rocks with you, but leave rocks so that he can grow and everyone can share in our artistic project.

When is the Fairy Garden Trail open?
The gardens will be on display in Davey Dogwood Park in spring of 2027. The park is open from dawn-dusk.

When is the best time to visit?
Fairy Gardens are designed to be decomposable, so the earlier you visit, the better!

Where are the Fairy Gardens?
Fairy gardens are located inside Davey Dogwood Park, across from the pavilion. Gardens are set up on plots scattered throughout a one-mile loop that is half paved and half hiking trail. Signs will direct you to the gardens once you arrive at the park.

Is there an admission fee?
No! The Fairy Gardens are free to explore along with the rest of Davey Dogwood Park.

Is the trail stroller-friendly or wheelchair accessible?
About half of the trail is paved and can be easily accessed by wheelchair or stroller. There is also a hiking trail portion that consists of uneven, unpaved ground.

Is the Fairy Garden Trail good for kids?
The Fairy Gardens are great for kids! While they are meant to be viewed and not interacted with, we will have a small scavenger hunt they can complete while walking the trail.

Who builds the fairy gardens?
Each garden is built by local community members, businesses, and even out-of-town guests! Gardens are required to be 90% decomposable.
