A train ride is just the beginning of holiday traditions in Palestine, Texas. Christmas in Palestine will offer plenty of family-friendly fun this holiday season. Palestine is the perfect destination to shop, dine and unwind during the most festive time of the year.

Special events planned now through Dec. 30, 2018 make this Christmas an ideal time to visit the City of Palestine. The season is filled with family activities, events and decorations that capture the holiday season. Below are some of our special holiday events:

The Polar Express™ Train Ride:
November 17 - December 27
Read along with the story as the historic steam strain makes its magical round-trip from the Palestine Depot to the North Pole. Meet Santa and enjoy caroling, hot cocoa, a treat and a special gift for each child.

Grinch’s Lair at the Historic Anderson County Jail:
November 23-30, December 1-23 Friday, Saturday & Sundays from 12:00pm - 5:30pm
He’s mean, he’s green and he’s in Palestine. The Grinch will take you on a tour of his home. Characters from the beloved book are staged throughout the historic attraction.

Skip the big city lines and have your photo taken with Santa in Old Town Palestine and write a letter to Santa. Presented by Old Town Market and Lee Loveless Photography

Dogwood Jamboree: An All Star Christmas:

The Dogwood Jamboree, a Branson-style Country music show is filled with family fun, laughter and great classic country music from Joe Hancock, Amanda Lane, "Flo", Rodney Ray, George Lester, Jus C Leroy and more!

Railroad Heritage Center:
History steams into downtown with the Texas State Railroad Society's presentation at the Railroad Heritage Center featuring a 40' x 20' HO scale model train display. Marvel at model train displays, hands on exhibits, history, artifacts and train memorabilia.

Christmas Parade of Lights:
December 1
Beautiful floats march through Old Town and downtown Palestine, when the Christmas Parade of Lights sets sail at 7 p.m. to the delight of hundreds of residents and visitors. Let the spirit of the season embrace you as the historic Anderson County Courthouse comes alive with illumination at the Palestine’s most beloved nighttime event.

Sounds of Christmas Concert:
December 2
Join the Anderson County Community Chorus and Orchestra as they present an afternoon of Christmas music and magic. 2:00pm

Wildcat Golf Course Country Christmas:
December 7 & 14
Experience holiday fun at Wildcat Golf Course as you ride over the course's rolling hills on a country hayride with hot chocolate and smores! Friday from 5-8pm

Palestine Main Street Wine Swirl:
December 8
Swirl around Main Street and enjoy regional wineries, food and shopping. Tickets are available at the Palestine Visitor Center or online at www.visitpalestine.com/wineswirl

A Walk Through Bethlehem:
December 8-10
Guided tours through the streets of Bethlehem begin with a hay ride to the gates. Walk through the streets, complete with live animals, local Bethlehem vendors and a very happy ending.

The Nutcracker presented by Ballet North Texas:

This holiday season watch as Ballet North Texas presents Dallas’ very own production of The Nutcracker. A sparkling performance created by Artistic Director, Nicolina Lawson, will bring its magic and charm to this classic that has brought delight for generations. Step into Clara’s dream as she helps her Nutcracker Prince defeat the Rat King in an epic battle, travel through the Snow Pine forest and into the Sugar Plum Fairy’s Kingdom of Sweets. Add magic to your family’s holiday tradition by joining Ballet North Texas in their take on the beloved classic, The Nutcracker.
