National Historic Marker Day

Date: Apr 26, 2024
Time: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Visit Palestine is planning a community service project to restore Anderson County historic markers during the 4th annual National Historic Marker Day on Friday, April 26th.

National Historic Marker Day brings people together to maintain local markers by cleaning them while providing an opportunity to celebrate and preserve history. Individuals, as well as groups of 2-3, are welcome to volunteer, including families and friends, civic organizations, schools and young groups, to name a few. Each volunteer/ group will get to choose a marker important to them to “adopt” from our list.

As community members we have the opportunity to maintain the history that has shaped our area. Adopting a National Historic Marker to restore this year will give you the chance to do just that. We would love to help set you up with one or more markers that need to be cleaned or restored. Please fill out the following information and we will be in touch to help find you a location.
