The Palestine Visitor Center welcomes travelers into a piece of Palestine, TX's railroad history itself. Housed in a restored depot more than 120 years old, originally built for the Neches area before being relocated to its current site at the corner of Spring and West Oak Streets in 2004, the Center now serves as the city's official tourism office.
Inside, visitors will find state and regional travel literature, city and area maps, a self-guided walking tour of downtown Palestine, and up-to-date information on local events, dining, and accommodations. Staff are on hand to offer personalized recommendations, and group tours or convention assistance are available with advance notice.
With more than 1,800 documented historic sites throughout Anderson County, an award-winning Main Street District, and the Texas State Railroad as its centerpiece attraction, Palestine, TX offers plenty to explore. The Visitor Center is the ideal first stop for planning that visit, whether guests are chasing dogwood blooms in spring, riding the rails, or simply looking for a friendly recommendation on where to eat.
The Palestine Visitor Center is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
